The Marshall Thundering Herd look to stay unbeaten when they visit the Louisville Cardinals.
The Marshall Thundering Herd have jumped out to a 3-0 start in the early going and while the wins have come against some lesser competition the games have all been double figure routs. West Virginia Tech was no match as they trailed by 21 heading to the locker room with Marshall emptying the bench. Marshall won the marksmanship battle 46.6%-40% but really separated themselves with 13 bombs and a +19 on the backboards. Ryan Taylor was the offensive star with a game high 25 points and eight rebounds followed by a 14 point effort from Austin Loop while Cheikh Sane chipped in with nine points and a monster 16 boards. Nine players found the scoring column with eleven seeing the floor.
USA TODAY Sports
The Louisville Cardinals first season in the ACC has started of well enough with a double digit victory over Minnesota followed up with an 88-39demolition of Jacksonville State who obviously didn't have the athletes to compete here as they trailed by 30 after 20 minutes in a contest that was over after five minutes. It was the Cardinals defense at their best with 27% shooting allowed while forcing 19 turnovers. Louisville connected at 47% from the field and totaled 23 more looks at the basket which explains the scoreboard. All five starters scored in DD with Montrezl Harrell scoring 15 points and snagging seven boards with Terry Rozier tossing in 13. Chinanu Onuaku and Wayne Blackshear each added 12 points and combined for 19 rebounds with Mangok Mathiang adding nine points and ten yanks.
The under is 8-3 in Marshall's last 11 overall and Marshall are 9-22 ATS in their last 31 road games. For Louisville the Cardinals are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall while Louisville are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and the over is 6-2 in LOU last 8 vs. Conference USA. Louisville might not win the Atlantic Coast but I guarantee they will be a factor with loads of talent. The Thundering Herd are unbeaten yet they are not picked to finish high in their conference. Not my kind of game so take this for what it's worth...
