The UC Davis Aggies and Furman Paladins square off Saturday night at the Timmons Arena.
The UC Davis Aggies are 2-0 with wins over Holy Names and Eastern Illinois. On the season, UC Davis is averaging 63 points on 50 percent shooting and is allowing 61 points on 37.7 percent shooting. Corey Hawkins leads UC Davis with 20 points on 51.9 percent shooting and Josh Ritchart is averaging 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. Those two players have carried the load offensively for the Aggies while Darius Graham is averaging 4.5 assists and Tyler Les is shooting 57.1 percent from beyond the arc. The UC Davis Aggies have to improve their 50 percent free throw shooting if they’re going to be a dark horse in the Big West. However, early on, UC Davis has shown flashes of what its capable of being when it isn’t hampered by injuries.

The Furman Paladins split their first two games with a loss to College Of Charleston and a win over Appalachian State. On the season, Furman is averaging 62 points on 41.5 percent shooting and is allowing 70 points on 46.1 percent shooting. Stephen Croone leads Furman with 12 points and seven assists while Kris Acox is averaging 10 points and nine rebounds. Kendrec Ferrara is the third Furman player to average double-digit points and Kevin Chuisseu is averaging 6.5 rebounds in a limited role. The Furman Paladins are an experienced group and has one of the best players in the Southern conference with Croone leading the way. However, if Fruman is going to make a splash this season, it must get something going offensively, especially from deep where it shoots just 27.3 percent.
The Aggies are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 non-conference games and 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 road games. The Paladins are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games.
The Furman Paladins have looked slightly better against tougher comp. Remember, College Of Charleston is an experienced team that's tough on the boards. Give me the home team and the couple of points.
