The Houston Cougars have played just one game so far, which was a 77-74 victory over Murray State. In the win, Houston shot 45.3 percent from the field and grabbed 42 rebounds while the defense allowed 37.5 percent shooting and forced 10 turnovers. Devonta Pollard led Houston with 19 points on 6-15 shooting while Jherrod Stiggers had 17 points and five rebounds. Eric Weary Jr. scored nine points in 17 minutes off the bench, and Cavon Baker scored 14 points on 60 percent shooting. The Houston Cougars have a lot of new players and will need time to adjust but their first contest was quite impressive. Houston does a nice job of crashing the boards but will have to improve its 64.7 percent free throw shooting if it hopes to be more than a middle of the road American team.
The Bears are 9-20-1 ATS in their last 30 road games and 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Cougars are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games following a S.U. win.
