The Iowa State Cyclones and Alabama Crimson Tide play Monday night at the Sprint Center.
The Iowa State Cyclones are off to a quick 2-0 start and continue to be an offensive machine. On the season, Iowa State is averaging 87 points on 50 percent shooting and is allowing 70 points on 45 percent shooting. Georges Niang leads Iowa State with 20 points and 10 rebounds while Bryce Dejean-Jones is scoring 17.5 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Monte Morris leads the Cyclones with six assists and Dustin Hogue is shooting 73.3 percent from the field. The Iowa State Cyclones were one of the better offensive teams in the country last season and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change. Iowa State is shooting nearly 35 percent from downtown and has five different players averaging double-digit points. The concern with Iowa State is the lack of depth and inconsistent defense.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are also unbeaten and could use a big time win here to get on the map. On the season, Alabama is averaging 81 points on 49.7 percent shooting and is allowing 65 points on 40.1 percent shooting. Levi Randolph leads Alabama with 19 points and 7.7 rebounds while Ricky Tarrant is averaging 13.7 points on 42.3 percent shooting. Shannon Hale is the third Alabama player averaging double-digit points and Jimmie Taylor is averaging nearly three blocks per game. The Alabama Crimson Tide have improved their depth and shooting from the free throw line at 79.3 percent. However, Alabama will continue to win games on the defensive side of the ball, this team still isn’t talented enough to win games in a shootout.
The Cyclones are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 non-conference games and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Crimson Tide are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Again, I don't trust Alabama on the offensive side of the ball enough to hang with an explosive team such as Iowa State. As long as the shots are falling, the Cyclones should win by double digits.
