The Purdue Boilermakers and Missouri Tigers look to rebound from defeats in the Maui Classic.
The Purdue Boilermakers opener at the Maui Classic was decided in a poor first half where neither end of the floor played well with Kansas State leading 39-24 on the way to an 88-79 defeat. This was an offensive show with Purdue holding a slight 55%-53% shooting advantage although most of their damage was done in the second half when a strong rally eventually fell well short. The bottom line was the Wildcats hit enough free throws to keep Purdue at arm's length. Kendall Stephens was the Boilers best player with 21 points on 7-11 shooting including five bombs with Isaac Haas right on his heels with 19 points and six boards. Jon Octeus rounded out the top contributors with 12 points and six helpers while nine players found the scoring column.

The Missouri Tigers had a tough draw to open the Maui Classic in #4 Arizona and eventually the Wildcats proved why they are a top five squad in a 72-53 decision. The Tigers fell behind by seven after 20 minutes but didn't have enough firepower at either end of the floor to hang with Arizona for 40 minutes. Zona hit shots at a 45% clip with Missouri connecting at 36% which was magnified with the Tigers giving the ball away 17 times which led to nine more Arizona shots which were not needed. The Tigers received 13 points from Montague Gill-Caesar with the tandem of Keith Shamburger and Jonathan Williams III tossing in eleven points each with Williams III adding five rebounds.
For Purdue the over is 13-5-1 in PUR last 19 Tue. games and for Missouri the under is 10-1 in Missouri's last 11 non-conference games with the over going 16-7 in MIZZ last 23 neutral site games. The teams have only faced each other twice so there really are not any trends that would help us out here and aside from that the season is so young that we don't know enough about most teams. I could argue that the Boilermakers played better then Missouri but I could argue that the Tigers faced the tougher team. Let's see what the line is when it comes out...
