The Ole Miss Rebels will take on the Creighton Bluejays at the Emerald Coast Classic this Friday night.
The Ole Miss Rebels enter the contest with a 3-1 record coming off an 80-74 victory over the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks this past Sunday. The Rebels have reeled off three straight wins after suffering a disappointing OT lose in their season opener off a last-second dunk versus Charleston Southern. The Rebels shot 46.2% from the field and an impressive 85.7% (30-35) from the free-throw line against Northern Arizona. Leading the way for the Rebels in their recent victory was Jarvis Summers who had 22 points (10-13 FTM-A), 3 rebounds and Ladarius White who had 12 points and 4 rebounds off the bench. Coach Andy Kennedy no longer has the entertaining Marshall Henderson, however, he still has a solid team which is led by Summers (14.3 ppg, 3.8 apg), Sebastian Saiz (6.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and transfer Stefan Moody (11.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.5 spg). Ole Miss has been getting it done on the defensive end as they currently ranked in the top-100 in many defensive categories such as points allowed (60.5 ppg), defensive rebounds (30.5 ppg), blocks (5.3 bpg), and steals (9.0 spg).

The Creighton Bluejays entered the rankings this past week at 22nd and are a perfect 5-0 on the season as they come off a 75-53 victory against the Eastern Illinois Panthers. The Bluejays were projected only to be in the middle of the pack in the Big East after they lost 4 starters including the player of the year in Doug McDermott, however, Coach Greg McDermott has the Bluejays playing well and has already notched an impressive victory coming back from 18 points in the second half to defeat a tough Oklahoma team 65-63. Coach McDermott has a well-balanced team with a lot of depth as not a single Bluejay is averaging more than 30 minutes a game so far this season. On the season, the Bluejays have been led by Devin Brooks (8.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 4.0 apg, 2.0 spg), Austin Chatman (9.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 4.6 apg), Isaiah Zierden (13.8 ppg) and Will Artino (10.2 ppg, 6.0 rpg). Creighton has done a nice job on both ends of the ball as the Bluejays are averaging 78.6 ppg (ranked 48th) and just allowing just 60.8 ppg (ranked 91st).
The Bluejays are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games. The rebels are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 neutral site games however, are 0-3-1 in their last 4 games overall.
The Creighton Bluejays have played well and have a great win over Oklahoma. Although I like the well balanced attack that Greg McDermott’s team has, I think the Bluejays will be running into a team that has a great guard in Summers and a tough defense that I think will cause the Bluejays trouble. I’m going to take the Rebels and the points in this one.
