The Georgia Bulldogs and the Minnesota Golden Gophers face off on Thursday in college basketball’s Batttle4Atlants.
The Georgia Bulldogs were never really a threat to Gonzaga in their opening round game as they trailed by 13 points at the half and lost by 12 in the end. Georgia shot 46.3 percent from the field and 25 percent from beyond the three-point arc while converting 62.9 percent of their free throws but none of that was nearly enough. Charles Mann had 23 points, six rebounds, and five assists to lead the Bulldogs. J.J. Frazier had 14 points, Nemanja Djurisic had 10 points, and Marcus Thornton had nine points. When slicing up the final deficit the bulk of the points were at the line where Gonzaga hit 10 more of their free throws.
USA TODAY Sports
The Minnesota Golden Gophers led St. John’s by nine points at the half but in the end they los by nine being outscored by 18 points in the second half. Minnesota shot 35.9 percent from the floor and 31.6 percent from beyond the three-point arc and hit just 56.2 percent of their free throw chances. Nate Mason led the Gophers with 15 points and four rebounds. Carlos Morris had 11 points, Andre Hollins had nine points, and Joey King had eight points and nine rebounds. Minnesota didn’t get it done on the boards being outrebounded by St. John’s 36-47.
Georgia is 4-1 against he spread following a loss and 2-5 against the spread against the Big Ten. Minnesota is 5-2 against the spread following a loss, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games, and 5-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
The total is set at 146.5 and I don't see it getting nearly that high so my free pick is the under.
