The Marist Red Foxes (1-4) found the win column for the first time on the season with a 68-64 victory against the Fresno State Bulldogs this past Wednesday. Leading the way for the Red Foxes was Chavaughn Lewis who had 28 points and 7 rebounds. Also contributing for Marist was Phillip Lawrence who had 19 points, 4 rebounds and Manny Thomas who chipped in with 13 points. The Red Fox suffered a big blow by losing the 2013-14 MAA Conference Rookie of the Year, Khallid Hart, for 4 weeks due to a foot injury. Hart is a major piece for the Red Foxes and had a promising start of the season as in his first two games, Hart was averaging 24.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, and 2.0 apg. Without Hart, Marist has been struggling on the offensive end as they currently are only scoring 60.0 ppg (ranked 297) on 39.2% shooting (ranked 289th). So far on the early season, the Red Foxes are giving up an average of 67.0 ppg (192nd ranked) however, they need to start winning the rebounding and turnover battle as currently their rebound margin is at -9.4 (ranked 338th) and turnover margin is at -1.8 (244th).
The Boston College Eagles are 2-3 on the season after losing their recent matchup-up against Dayton 65-53 this past Sunday in the third-place game at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off on Sunday. Leading the way for the Eagles was Eddie Odio who had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Boston College is led by one of the better guards in the ACC in Sophomore Olivier Hanlan who is averaging 17.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.0 apg, and 2.4 spg on the season. Boston College has struggled on the offensive end as they are only averaging 61.6 ppg on 41.0% shooting. The Eagles are really have trouble with the deep ball as they currently only shooting about 20% as a team so far this season. Boston College will need to start to protect the ball better as they are currently averaging 16.8 turnovers per game which ranks 319th in the county. The Eagles are going a decent job on the defensive end as they currently allowing 64.2 ppg which ranked 143rd in the country.
USA TODAY Sports
The Red Foxes are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. win however, just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Eagles are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 non-conference games and just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
The Boston College Eagles aren’t projected to make much noise in the AAC this year, however, they do have a stud in Olivier Hanlan. The Red Foxes have been pretty bad on the offensive end this year and until without Khallid Hart, will most likely continue to struggle. I think the Eagle find their outside touch at home and win big over the Red Foxes. Take Boston Cover to cover the spread.
