The Georgia Southern Eagles hope to continue their early success when they visit the Central Florida Knights.
The Georgia Southern Eagles have a reputation as a solid offensive team and that has been the case thus far in 2014 although the competition hasn't been fierce. The Eagles have won four in a row to improve to 4-1 after knocking off South Carolina State 71-58 on Saturday. GSU used a 40 point second half run to erase a four point deficit as the defense held the Bulldogs to 37.5% shooting and forced 18 turnovers. The Eagles hit at 44% but won it at the line with 18-5 advantage. Jelani Hewitt tossed in a game high 23 points with Trent Weidman adding 18 points and eight rebounds. Angel Matias and Mike Hughes combined for 21 points with Hughes grabbing seven boards.

The Central Florida Knights lost a lot of experience from a season ago and because of that many believe a finish at or near the bottom of the AAC is in order. The Knights have built a 4-1 mark against some weaker teams so we really need to see more of this team to get a grasp on them but so far it appears scoring the basketball is a strength. It was in a 75-67 victory over visiting Bethune-Cookman where both teams sank shots in the 51% range. The Knights won it with a 19-8 edge at the charity stripe in an otherwise even boxscore. Central Florida had the best player on the floor in Justin McBride who poured in 31 points and snagged eight rebounds on 12-15 shooting. Kasey Wilson was next in line with 12 points and six pulls while Adonys Henriquez and Daiquan Walker chipped in with eight points each.
The Eagles are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and Eagles are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Eagles are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games. For Central Florida the Knights are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and are 6-14-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall. The Knights are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win and are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. I don't see a rock solid advantage in either side but Georgia Southern can score here so I'll take the points...
