The Wyoming Cowboys and SMU Mustangs play Friday night at the Moody Coliseum.
The Wyoming Cowboys are undefeated and will play their first true road game. On the season, Wyoming is averaging 68.5 points on 55.2 percent shooting and is allowing 51 points on 39.5 percent shooting. Larry Nance Jr. leads the Cowboys with 15 points and six rebounds while Josh Adams is averaging 10.3 points on 48.9 percent shooting. Charles Hankerson Jr. is averaging 3.9 assists per game and Riley Grabau has 16 points in his last two games. The Wyoming Cowboys are one of the top offensive teams in the country, which includes 73.6 percent shooting from the free throw line and 36.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Wyoming is also playing great defense but the weakness for this team is the 30.7 rebounds per game it’s averaging.
USA TODAY Sports
The SMU Mustangs have won three of their last four games but need to pick up a marquee win here. On the season, SMU is averaging 71.6 points on 48.4 percent shooting and is allowing 65.1 points on 40.6 percent shooting. Nic Moore leads SMU with 14.4 points and 5.6 assists while Yanick Moreira is averaging 11.7 points and six rebounds. Keith Frazier is shooting 48.1 percent from the field and Ben Moore is averaging 6.9 rebounds per game. The SMU Mustangs got off to a slow start but are shooting a lights out 36 percent from downtown and nearly 76 percent from the free throw line. SMU clearly misses big man Marcus Kennedy in the lineup, but the Mustangs are slowly figuring things out and have improved their rebounding rate to 36 per game.
The Cowboys are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win. The Mustangs are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
The Wyoming Cowboys are a MWC contender and have enough experience to the point they won't be rattled in this tough road game. Don't be surprised if Wyoming wins outright, which is why I'm taking the points. SMU hasn't shown it can play consistent ball this season.
