The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will travel to the Prudential Center to face the Seton Hall Pirates this Saturday afternoon.
Rutgers rebounded from an embarrassing 45-26 loss to the Virginia Cavaliers to beat Clemson 69-64 this past Monday to improve to 4-3 on the season. To say that the Scarlet Knights have struggled on the offensive end would be an understatement as on the season, they rank near last in the country in both points per game (57.6 ppg; ranked 329th) and field goal percentage (38.1%; ranked 317th). The Scarlet Knights are led by Myles Mack who is averaging 14.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 5.0 apg, & 3.3 spg and Kadeem Jack who is averaging 13.2 ppg & 1.6 apg. Defensively, Rutgers are holding opponents to 61.3 ppg (ranked 89th) however have struggled with fouls as they commit an average of 15.1 fouls per game (ranked 21st). The Scarlet Knights do have a couple of decent players in Myles Mack and Kadeem Jack, however, the talent level really drops off quickly after that and it looks again that this could be a long season for the Scarlet Knights.

The Seton Hall Pirates remained a perfect 6-0 on the season with a 78-55 victory over the Mt. St. Mary’s Mountaineers this past Tuesday. The Pirates shot an incredible 64.7% (33-51) from the field and outrebounded the Mountaineers by 17 en route to their victory. Seton Hall used a balanced attack in their victory as they had at least five players who scored at least 9 points. Leading the way for the Pirates was Angel Delgado who scored 13 points (6-8 FG) and grabbed 9 rebounds. Seton Hall is a young, talented team who are looking to make some noise this year. The Pirates have one of the best freshman in the country in Isaiah Whitehead (10.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.5 apg), who was ranked as a five-start prospect coming into the season. Offensively, the Pirates have been averaging 72.7 ppg (ranked 102nd) on 46.3% shooting (ranked 85th). Seton Hall has also has shot it well beyond the arc as they are shooting 41.2% on three-pointers this season. The Pirates have played solid defensive on the season as they are holding their opponents to 60.5 ppg (ranked 77th) and are forcing 7.5 spg (ranked 90th).
The Scarlet Knights are 8-23 ATS in their last 31 games following a ATS win and just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win. The Pirates are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.
Although Rutgers is coming off their best win of the season at Clemson, this is a team that will need Kadeem Jack and Myles Mack to both be on their games at all times just to give the Scarlet Knights a chance. Seton Hall is on a roll right now and have been shooting lights out recently. I think the Pirates will end up being one of the better teams in the Big East this year and I’m going to take them to beat Rutgers and cover the spread.
