The Temple Owls lost a tough 58-56 match-up against the Saint Joseph’s Hawks this past Wednesday to drop to 4-3 on the young season. The Owls held the Saint Joseph Hawks to just 35.7 shooting from the field and 13.3% (2-15) from long-range, however, once against struggled putting enough points on the board to get the victory. Leading the way for the Owls was Quenton DeCosey who had 22 points (7-11 FG, 3-5 3 PM-A), 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. On the season Temple has been led by Will Cummings who is averaging 14.9 ppg, 6.9 rpg, and 3.4 apg. Temple has had trouble scoring ball all season as they currently are averaging only 61.1 ppg (ranked 294th) on 36.1% shooting (ranked 338th). Defensively, The Owls have done a solid job as they are only allowing 60.6 ppg (ranked 81st), grabbing 26.9 rpg (ranked 60th) and are getting 4.9 bpg (ranked 60th).
The Explorers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a S.U. loss and just 9-24-1 ATS in their last 34 games overall. The Owls are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
Both Temple and La Salle are having trouble scoring the basketball and I can certainly see this one being a defensive struggle. I think Temple will have a little more success on the offensive end and that Will Cummings and Quenton DeCosey will provide enough offensive to lead the Owls to Victory. I’m interested to see what the O/U line is on this one, however, for my pick, I’m going to take the Owls to win and cover the spread.
