The Saint Joseph’s Hawks and Villanova Wildcats play Saturday afternoon at The Pavilion.
The Saint Joseph’s Hawks have won three of their last four games and will play their third true road contest. On the season, Saint Joseph’s is averaging 58.6 points on 37.7 percent shooting and is allowing 64.1 points on 43.2 percent shooting. DeAndre Bembry is averaging 14.1 points and 6.9 rebounds while Aaron Brown is averaging 10.6 points on 44.6 percent shooting. Isaiah Miles is the third player to average double-digit points and James Demery is shooting 44.7 percent from the field. The Saint Joseph’s Hawks have very little scoring depth and are shooting just 22.9 percent from beyond the arc. Defense is what keeps Saint Joseph’s in games, as the Hawks are averaging seven steals and holding teams to less than 31 percent shooting from downtown.

The Villanova Wildcats remain unbeaten and are looking like a Big East threat. On the season, Villanova is averaging 75.6 points on 47.2 percent shooting and is allowing 57.1 points on 41.2 percent shooting. Dylan Ennis is averaging 12.9 points and three assists while Darrun Hilliard II is averaging 10.4 points on 38 percent shooting. Daniel Ochefu is grabbing 7.9 rebounds per game and Kris Jenkins is shooting 47.7 percent from the field. The Villanova Wildcats remain a deadly offensive team with seven players averaging at least eight points and shooting 72.3 percent from the free throw line as a team. Villanova has also improved defensively, forcing 16 turnovers per game and holding teams to just 27.6 percent from beyond the arc.
The Hawks are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. Big East. The Wildcats are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 home games and 43-19 ATS in their last 62 games overall. The Hawks are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings.
This looks like a matchup nightmare for Saint Joseph's, as the Hawks have very little consistent scorers while Villanova has tons of guys who can drop 10 or more points. But this is a ton of points to lay, especially with a Hawks team that can play above-average defense. I don't love this game, but if forced to pick I'm riding with the points here.
