The Marist Red Foxes square off with the Manhattan Jaspers at Draddy Gymnasium on Sunday.
The Marist Red Foxes have already reached the point in the season where they need to start winning to salvage the season. That means finding some consistent scoring and take some of the burden off of the defense because it's tough to win with less then 60 points. Scoring continued to be an issue in a 57-50 defeat to visiting Monmouth on Thursday. The Red Foxes didn't defend the shot well with the Hawks hitting at 51% but the defense did force 19 turnovers. The bad news was the Red Foxes shot 43% and gave the ball away 21 times. Phillip Lawrence was the best and only scoring option for Marist with 14 points with Manny Thomas and Nick Colleta adding eight points each.

The Manhattan Jaspers are in the same boat as Marist in that they need to kick things up a few notches and begin to win basketball games. The Jaspers are also having problems finding the bottom of the basket and like their counterparts their defense isn't winning on their own merits. Both ends of the floor struggled in a 67-54 defeat at Fairfield in the conference opener with both teams hitting at 42% with the Jaspers givig the ball away 21 times. A 24-14 advantage in favor of the Stags was the decisive number. Manhattan received 23 points from Ashton Pankey who grabbed six rebounds and connected on 6-10 from the floor. Emmy Andujar tossed in ten points and hauled in nine rebounds followed by an eight point effort from Shane Richards.
The Red Foxes are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Sunday games while going 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. loss. Marist Red Foxes are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The Jaspers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games following three or more consecutive road games and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Manhattan are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 while going 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 Sunday games. I think Manhattan gets this one but with Chavaughn Lewis and Khallid Hart game time decisions for Marist no line is out and I'd be careful betting 'game time' decisions...
