The Fairfield Stags visit the TD Bank Sports Center to take the hardwood with the Quinnipiac Bobcats in MAAC action.
The Fairfield Stags are picked to finish at or near the bottom of the MAAC with their biggest issue being scoring the basketball which the team knew was a concern going in to the new season. The Stags opened their MAAC schedule with a surprisingly easy 67-54 decision versus visiting Manhattan on Friday night. Fairfield held the Jaspers to 42% from the field and forced 21 turnovers although the Stags didn't really take advantage with just 42% accuracy. FF won this game at foul line where they held a 24-15 edge. Marcus Gilbert was the offensive star with a game high 24 points on 8-16 shooting in 40 minutes. Steve Johnston followed with 15 while Mike Kirkland Jr. chipped in with ten points and five boards.

The Quinnipiac Bobcats had a reputation of being extremely tough to beat at home but a squad that was susceptable away from home. The Bobcats need to improve their performance on the road but that didn't happen in their MAAC opener at Siena where the Saints turned a two point half time lead in to an 88-67 decision. The Bobcats couldn't contain the Saints offense that burned the nets with 54% shooting and never found the shooting touch with 36% accuracy which made 16 giveaways even more painful. Zaid Hearst paced the Quinnipiac scoring with 15 points and six pulls on 6-15 shooting followed by a 14 point, six assist performance from Kasim Chandler with Evan Conti and Ousmane Drame adding 17 points with Drame snagging seven rebounds.
The Stags are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 vs. Metro Atlantic Athletic while going 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 road games. Fairfield are 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games following a S.U. win and are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 Sunday games. The Bobcats are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS loss. Quinnipiac are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. Metro Atlantic Athletic. The Stags on the road versus a great home team seems like a mismatch and could be a huge rout. It's take the points or walk away which isn't a bad option...
