The Alcorn State Braves look for the road upset of the Iowa Hawkeyes at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The Alcorn State Braves are hoping to crack the top four in the SWAC but they need to get a handle on their scoring and defense with both being all over the map in the early going. The Braves fell to 1-5 after a 72-51 defeat at Troy where neither end of the floor found much success. ASU trailed by 18 at the half and were never able to make any kind of run to get back in to this. The only real difference was shooting with the Trojans holding a 47%-34% advantage along with nine more free throws to win going away. Leantwan Luckett led a trio of DD scorers with 14 points but was just 6-17 from the field. Reginald Johnson scored 13 pooints on 4-6 while Marquise Vance chipped in with ten points and hauled in nine rebounds.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have their eyes on the Big Ten Crown and a national ranking with their 7-2 start that includes a win over North Carolina on the road which is no small feat. The surging Hawkeyes have won five in a row after a 77-47 rout of visiting UMBC behing complete dominance at both ends of the floor. Iowa put this in the win column with a 28 point lead after 20 minutes and had control from the opening tip. The defense set the tone with the Retrievers hitting at 33% from the floor and turning the ball over 24 times. That gave the 44.6% shooting Hawkeyes ten more field goals which were overkill. The tandem of Peter Jok and Gabriel Oleseni each scored 15 points with Olaseni snagging seven boards. Aaron White was right on their heels with 14 points and five yanks while Jarrod Uthoff added eleven points and six pulls.
The Braves are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games while going 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. Alcorn State are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss and are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Hawkeyes are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 while going 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. Iowa are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game and are 22-8 ATS in their last 30 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Of cours the spread is high and not a game I'm anxious to bet so going on potential...
