The IUPUI Jaguars and Xavier Musketeers play Tuesday night at the Cintas Center.
The IUPUI Jaguars have lost three straight and will play their fifth true road game. On the season, IUPUI is averaging 64.1 points on 41.2 percent shooting and is allowing 74.4 points on 47.9 percent shooting. Marcellus Barksdale leads IUPUI with 10 points and 4.4 rebounds while P.J. Boutte is averaging 4.6 assists. DavRon Williams is grabbing 6.6 rebounds per game and Mason Archie II is shooting 47.5 percent from the field. Despite averaging close to eight steals, the IUPUI Jaguars are one of the worst defensive teams in the country, allowing 73 or more points in four of their seven games. Offensively, IUPUI is shooting 35.4 percent from deep, 73.9 percent from the line and has five players averaging at least seven points. Still, the poor defense and the 32.4 rebounds per game kills IUPUI from having success.

The Xavier Musketeers have have split their last four games and are one of the top offensive teams. On the season, Xavier is averaging 85.2 points on 52.5 percent shooting and is allowing 70.5 points on 45.5 percent shooting. Matt Stainbrook leads Xavier with 15.3 points and 7.4 rebounds while Trevon Bluiett is averaging 15 points and 4.8 rebounds. Myles Davis is the third Xavier player averaging double-digit points and Dee Davis is averaging 6.3 assists. The Xavier Musketeers are shooting 70.3 percent from the line, 38.9 percent from beyond the arc and is coming off a game where it produced 97 points. Xavier is simply outscoring teams at a high clip and is doing a nice job on the glass, averaging 37.6 boards per game. The Xavier Musketeers are a dangerous team in the Big East if this continues.
The Jaguars are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss and 17-45 ATS in their last 62 games overall. The Musketeers are 26-9 ATS in their last 35 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
While the spread may be a little too steep for my taste, I'm not sure how the Jags keep this game close. Xavier is simply shooting lights out from everywhere on the court and that shouldn't change with the way IUPUI plays defense. I'll take my chances with the high chalk and the home team.
