The Maryland Terrapins welcome the South Carolina Upstate Trojans to the Comcast Center in early Saturday action.
The South Carolina Upstate Trojans are one of the few teams in the Atlantic Sun that are given a chance at challenging Florida Gulf Coast. The Spartans have plenty of scoring ability and are stiffling on defense as they outscore the opposition 74-55. Not the toughest of schedules but the Spartans have won three straight after a 59-54 victory at Georgia Tech. No offense here with the Yellow Jackets holding a 37%-30% shooting edge but USC Upstate squeezed by with six more free throws and a 10-26 mark from long range. Ty Greene scored a game high 16 points on 4-12 shooting with ShunQuez Stephens tossing in 13 points and grabbing six boards followed by Josh Cuthbertson who nailed 4-7 threes for 12 points.

The #20 Maryland Terrapins are looking for a return to glory after being on the outside looking in at the national scene. The question most are asking is how this team fits in the Big Ten and for now I'll good if they continue to score and defend as they have in building a 9-1 record. The Terps have won back to back contests with a 67-56 victory over North Carolina Central. This looked like a laugher with the Terps up 21 after 20 minutes before holding off a late Eagles rally. Nearly 49% shooting and an 18-5 difference at the stripe subdued the 38% shooting Eagles who totaled 18 more shots. Richard Pack led a trio of double figure scorers with 17 points and five yanks followed a 15 point effort from Jake Layman with Melo Trimble tossing in 12 points.
The Spartans are 3-0-2 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 while going 3-0-2 ATS in their last 5 road games. USC Upstate are 3-0-2 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and are 4-1-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Terrapins are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games and are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Maryland are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games. My thoughts are Maryland is very good but USC Upstate is not a bottom feeder...
