I'm not completely sure of what the Ball State Cardinals are in 2014-15 they have put up very good numbers in a mixed schedule that sits at 3-3 after defeating Indiana State 70-63 at home. The Cardinals were slight home dogs and looked like they were in trouble as an eight point deficit stared them in the face after 20 minutes. However the Cardinals rode a 48-33 second half to stun the Sycamores who looked like money. The winning margin came at the charity stripe where the Cardinals sank nine more free throws in an otherwise even boxscore. Zavier Turner paced five double digit scorers with 15 points and six helpers while Bo Calhoun added eleven. The trio of Franko House, Francis Kiapway and Matt Kamieniecki each scored eleven points with Kamieniecki hauling in ten rebounds.

The Valparaiso Crusaders appear to be one of the teams in the Horizon that has the combination of scoring and defense to challenge Green Bay for supremacy in the conference. The Crusaders have outscored the opposition 72-58 in building a 7-1 that was marred by a 17 point defeat to visiting New Mexico. The Crusaders are coming off of a 79-54 rout of sub division Trinity International that was decided before the opening tip. The Trojans were to small with 28% from the field along with ten blocks and 16 turnovers telling the story. On the flip side Valpo connected at 51.7% and had a +13 on the backboards as they were never challenged. Tevonn Walker tossed in a game high 15 points followed by a 12 point, seven rebound effort from Keith Carter. David Skara and Vashil Fernandez combined for 21 points with ten players seeing the floor and scoring.
The Cardinals are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games while going 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. Ball State are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win. Crusaders are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Mid-American and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. Valparaiso are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. I think if Valpo plays up to their potential then they can win big but Ball State can be a dangerous dog...
