The Portland Pilots take the hardwood at The Nest to tangle with the Sacramento State Hornets.
Will this be the year the Portland Pilots crack the top four in the West Coast and make some noise? Many think so with their ability to score and defend but seeing is believing in such a top heavy conference. The offense was a letdown in a 65-58 loss to visiting Oregon State where the Beavers were held to 37% from the floor. The Pilots couldn't buy a basket on 27% accuracy with a failed attempt to establish a perimeter game that was only 5-24. Portland did sink seven more free throws in anotherwise even boxscore. Bobby Sharp paced the offense with 12 points but was 3-12 from beyond the arc while Alec Wintering netted ten points and grabbed five boards. Thomas van der Mars scored nine points and had nine rebounds with Volodymer Gerun adding eight points.

The Sacramento State Hornets are hoping to make some noise in the Big Sky where Weber State is supposed to be king but as I said about Portland, seeing is believing. The Hornets are sticking around in the early going at 5-3 after handing Cal State Fullerton a 73-59 defeat with the defensive side of the floor coming up big. The Hornets were up nine at the half and were never really in danger even though the Titans sank half their looks. CSF gave the ball away 15 times which gave the 47% shooting Hornets nine more looks with a near perfect 18-19 at the stripe pushing them over the edge. Mikh McKinney led all scorers with 21 points followed by Cody Demps with 14. Alex Tiffin supplied another 15 points while Dylan Garrity added eleven points.
The Pilots are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss while going 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Big Sky. Portland are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games following a S.U. loss and are 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 non-conference games. The Hornets are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. win and 3-0-2 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Sacramento are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games. There looks like there are some injuries in this game so no line has been released so please check back...
