The Line: Fairfield Stags +2 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Fairfield Stags host Ohio Valley power the Belmont Bruins at Webster Bank Arena.
The Belmont Bruins are the frontrunner for the Ohio Valley crown and aren't accustomed to losing so it's a little surprising to seem them in the midst of a three game slide. The Bruins can light up the scoreboard as well as any squad but their defense hasn't been stout. Nothing was stout in a 78-51 defeat at VCU on Tuesday. The Rams were up 13 after 20 minutes and never got their feet under them just 37% shooting and 15 turnovers while VCU hit at 47.6% and totaled 17 more shots. Evan Bradds was the Bruins lone double digit scorer with 15 points on 6-9 from the floor with Spencer Turner and Nick Smith combining for 15 points.

The Fairfield Stags were one of the best teams the MAAC had to offer a few short years ago but graduation robbed them of that talent and and the Stags have been slow to rebuild. The team stands at 4-5 with consecutive victories after a 56-52, overtime win at Quinnipiac. FF controlled the pace and slowed the Bobcats who connected at 30% from the field and gave the ball away 20 times to make the Stags 34.5% accuracy a winner. Fairfield was more balanced then the Bobcats with three double digit scorers with Steve Johnson leading the way with 14 points on 4-8 while Mike Kirkland Jr. added 13 points and five yanks followed by Marcus Gilbert with eleven points and another five boards.
The Bruins are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. Belmont are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games and are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss. The Stags are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. Fairfield are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games following a S.U. win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Belmont seems to be a bit erratic in the early stages of the season and Fairfield looks like they will be a pain to it's competition in the MAAC. Not sure here with the Bruins having injuries so I'd be careful on this one...
