The Harvard Crimson will travel to the Wells Fargo Arena (AZ) to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils this Sunday afternoon.
The Harvard Crimson suffered one of their worst defeats under Tommy Amaker after losing to the 6th ranked Virginia Cavaliers 76-27 this past Sunday which dropped the Crimson to 7-2 on the season. Harvard struggled all day on the offensive end as they were held to just 1 field goal in the first half and finished the game shooting just 16.0% (8-50 FGM-A). Leading the way for the Crimson was Corbin Miller who had 8 points off the bench. Harvard’s starting five went a combined 1-33 from the field in the game. Harvard is currently ranked 42nd in the RPI Standings and have played the 54th SOS. On the season, the Crimson have been led by Wesley Saunders (18.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 4.0 apg, 2.6 spg), Siyani Chambers (7.7 ppg, 5.0 apg), and Steve Moundou-Missi (8.7 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.9 bpg). Offensively, Harvard is averaging 64.6 ppg (ranked 252nd) on 44.3% shooting (ranked 137th). The Crimson shoot well from the free-throw line as a team as they currently shooting 72.3% which ranked 69th in the country. Defensively, Harvard allows their opponents to average 58.3 ppg (ranked 33rd) on 39.8 (ranked 89th). The Crimson do a great job moving their feet on defensive as they are only committing 14.8 fouls per game (ranked 18th).

The Arizona State Sun Devils improved to 7-5 on the season after defeating the Detroit Titans 93-54 this past Tuesday. The Sun Devils held Detroit to just 30.0% shooting in the game while they shot an impressive 57.4% from the field. Leading the way for Arizona State was UNLV transfer Savon Goodman who had 22 points (8-12 FGM-A), 11 rebounds, and 2 steals. Head Coach Herb Sendek has to be happy with how his Sun Devils responded after getting upset at home in triple OT the previous weekend against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. Arizona State currently ranks 178th in the RPI Standings and has played the 197th ranked SOS. On the season the Sun Devils have been led by Savon Goodman (17.7 ppg, 8.0 rpg), Gerry Blakes (12.1 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.9 apg), and Eric Jacobsen (10.6 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.5 apg). Offensively, Arizona State has averaged 74.9 ppg (ranked 51st) on 47.2% shooting (ranked 53rd). The Sun Devils like to shoot the ball from beyond the arc as they are currently averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game as a team (ranked 37th). Defensively, Arizona State is allowing 64.6 ppg (ranked 147th) on 41.6% shooting (ranked 147th). The Sun Devils do a nice job on the defensive glass as they are average 26.25 defensive rpg (ranked 67th).
The Crimson are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Sun Devils are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win.
It’s hard to look at each team’s previous game as Harvard is a much better team than they displayed against Virginia and I don’t think Arizona State is as good as they looked against Detroit. If this game was a week ago I could have seen Harvard favored in this one and I would still have taken them. I think Tommy Amaker will have the Crimson ready to play and that they win this one. Take Harvard and the points in this one!
