The BYU Cougars will travel to War Memorial Gymnasium to take on the San Francisco Dons this Saturday night.

The BYU Cougars improved to 12-4 (2-1 WCC) after defeating the Santa Clara Broncos 81-46 this past Thursday. BYU had one of their best defensive performances of the season holding the Broncos to just 30.4% shooting from the field and 26.1% (6-23 3 PM-A) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Cougars was Kyle Collinsworth who had 8 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals in the victory. BYU is currently ranked 33rd in the RPI Standings and has played the 19th ranked SOS. On the season, the Cougars have been led by Tyler Haws (21.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.6 apg), Anson Winder (14.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.8 apg), and Kyle Collinsworth (13.3 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 5.6 apg, 2.3 spg). Offensively, BYU is averaging 87.6 ppg (ranked 1st) on 46.9% shooting (ranked 53rd). The Cougars average 8.8 three-pointers per game (ranked 17th) on 38.0% three-point shooting (ranked 57th). BYU shot 77.0% from the line as a team which ranks 5th in the country. Defensively, the Cougars are allowing 74.1 ppg (ranked 315th) on 42.9% shooting (ranked 194th).

San Francisco Dons vs. BYU Cougars - 1/3/15 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The San Francisco Dons lost their second straight contest and dropped to 7-8 (1-2 WCC) on the season after losing 57-56 to the San Diego Toreros this past Thursday. The Dons outrebounded the Toreros by a 38-30 margin but only shot 50.0% from the free-throw line. Leading the way for the San Francisco was Matt Glover who had 11 points and 9 rebounds. The Dons are currently ranked 207th in the RPI Standings and has played the 151st ranked SOS. On the season San Francisco have been led by Mark Tollefsen (15.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.1 apg), Kruize Pinkins (15.0 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.7 apg), and Tim Derksen (11.8 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 2.0 apg). Offensively, the Dons are averaging 71.9 ppg (ranked 98th) on 46.8% shooting (ranked 56th). Defensively, San Francisco is allowing 64.0 ppg (ranked 133rd) on 40.5% shooting (ranked 112th). San Francisco averages 12.27 offensive rpg (ranked 85th), 26.2 defensive rpg (ranked 69th), and 38.47 total rpg (ranked 57th).

The Cougars are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games however, just 1-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. The Dons are 41-15 ATS in their last 56 games vs. the WCC and 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 games following a ATS loss.

The BYU Cougars are the highest scoring team in the country and looked real good on the road in their recent victory against Santa Clara. San Francisco has some good size on their team, however, I don’t think they’ll be able to keep up offensively with the Cougars. I’m going to take BYU to cover the spread in this one.
