The Leavey Center and the Santa Clara Broncs welcome the rival San Diego Toreros to town Saturday.
If the San Diego Toreros can maintain their defensive intensity and perhaps boost their scoring a bit, a top five position in the West Coast isn't out of the question. Defense led the way in a 57-56 victory at San Francisco as the Toreros picked up conference win number one. Both teams connected at 41.5% with San Diego squeezing out an extra three in a very even boxscore. San Diego did not have a single double digit scorer but they were balanced. Christopher Anderson led the offense with nine points with five assists and five turnovers while the duo of Duda Sanadze and Vasa Pusica scored eight points each with a combined nine pulls. Chris Sarbaugh and Brandon Perry chipped in with seven points apiece with ten players scoring overall.

The Santa Clara Broncos are supposed to be fighting for a middle of the row spot in the West Coast and at 6-8 that seems to be where they are right now. The Broncos are struggling to boost their scoring with 62 points not being enough to challenge the big boys in the conference. SCU has dropped four of five following an 81-46 loss to visiting Brigham Young on Thursday. The Cougars raced to a 19 point lead in the first 20 minutes and were never challenged behind 47% shooting and a 23-6 advantage easily outdistancing the Broncos 30% accuracy. Brandon Clarkled the scoring with 12 points on 4-14 from the field with Jared Brownridge tossing in ten points and posting six helpers followed by Matt Hubbard and Denzel Washington combining for 16 points.
The Toreros are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and Toreros are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win while going 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. West Coast. The Broncos are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring less than 50 points in their previous game and are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points. Santa Clara are 16-36-1 ATS in their last 53 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 13-32 ATS in their last 45 home games. This looks like a game San Diego has to win if they are to be taken seriously so we shall see what the Toreros are made of...
