The Koessler Athletic Center and the Canisius Golden Griffins host the Manhattan Jaspers Sunday.
The Manhattan Jaspers have yet to get their feet under them and that's a dangerous place to be in any conference. The Jaspers looked like they were building some momentum before dropping a 73-61 decision at a struggling Niagara squad on Friday. The Purple Eagles exploded to 18 point lead heading to the locker room and held the fort the rest of the way. The Purple Eagles fired away at nearly 60% and held the Jaspers to 36% which negated 19 more looks at the basket forged by forcing 19 turnovers. Ashton Pankey was the Jaspers only double digit scorer with eleven points and eight boards with the duo of Emmy Andujar and Shane Richards netting nine points apiece. Zane Waterman chipped in with eight points and nine players scored overall but the shots were not falling.

The Canisius Golden Griffins had appeared to get their offense untracked in winning five of six before the defensive end of the floor couldn't get enough stops in a 73-68 loss to visiting Monmouth on Friday. The defense didn't play that bad with the Hawks held to 41.5% but the Golden Griffins never found the shooting touch at 36% and Monmouth iced it with a 21-13 advantage at the charity stripe. While the Hawks were balanced at the offensive end with four double digit scorers Canisius had one go to player who nearly shouldered the entire scoring load. Zach Lewis poured in a game high 32 points on 11-23 shooting which included an 8-17 mark from beyond the arc. Jamal Reynolds added eight points and seven boards but prduction outside of Lewis was difficult to find.
The Jaspers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss. Manhattan are 34-15-2 ATS in their last 51 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 36-16-2 ATS in their last 54 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Golden Griffins are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. Metro Atlantic Athletic. Canisius are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Manhattan is a team I'd stay far away from and if Emmy Andujar is suspended Canisius is the way I'm looking...
