The Wichita State Shockers welcome the Illinois State Redbirds to the Charles Koch Arena on Sunday.
The Illinois State Redbirds are hoping this is the season they take a step forward in the Missouri Valley. The Redbirds have the scoring and defense but need both to be on the same page to have a better then average chance. The offense didn't show up in a 63-61 loss to visiting Indiana State on Wednesday. It was a sloppy game with a combined 36 turnovers but the real difference was the Sycamores 42.6% shooting being better then the Redbirds 35.8% which included a few more threes. Tony Wills tossed in a contest high 16 points and posted five yanks with MiKyle McIntosh adding eleven points and five pulls. Bobby Hunter netted nine points with Paris Lee netting seven points and recording six steals and five turnovers.

The Wichita State Shockers have the best combination of scoring and defense in the Missouri Valley and yet people are wondering what is wrong with the number 16 team in the nation. Probably nothing as they are held to a high standard that was built on their past success. The Shockers rebounded from their second defeat of the year to down rival Drake 66-58 on the road Wednesday. The Bulldogs controlled the pace and held WSU to less then 41% from the floor but Wichita upped the defensive pressure and limited the Bulldogs to only 33% shooting. The Shockers received a game high 23 points and six pulls from Ron Baker on 8-15 accuracy with Tekele Cotton netted 17 points. The rest of the rotation struggled with nobody scoring more then seven.
The Redbirds are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss. Illinois State are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Shockers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600 and 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Wichita State are 17-5 ATS in their last 22 vs. Missouri Valley and 37-14-2 ATS in their last 53 games following a S.U. win.
