The #25 San Diego State Aztecs brace for a visit from the New Mexico Lobos in MWC action Tuesday.
The New Mexico Lobos certainly don't have the big offense but they are making up for it with a defense that is allowing a mere 58 points. That defense has played a major role in winning seven of eight and was key in a 66-53 victory over Colorado State on Saturday. The Lobos took a nine point lead at the break and the Rams never made a comeback on less then 33% shooting including 6-25 from long range. UNM didn't have a problem finding the bottom of the net on 51% marksmanship which put this game in the win column. Sam Logwood led a balanced attack with 15 points on 5-5 shooting with Devon Williams tossing in 13 while the duo Jordan Goodman and Tim Jacobs combined for 17 points with Jacobs snaring five boards.

The #25 San Diego Aztecs are the definition of a defense first squad with a top ten unit that allows a mere 54 points which makes their 62 points scored look like overkill. The Aztecs rode a four game winning streak in to Fresno State as an 8.5 point favorite and saw their offense falter in a 59-57 defeat where they trailed throughout. The Bulldogs took a surprising 34-19 lead after 20 minutes and held on for dear life with SDSU holding a slight 42%-39% shooting edge but turning the ball over 18 times with Fresno sinking seven more free throws for the win. Aqeel Quinn cairried the Aztecs offense with 19 points and five yanks on 8-13 followed by Matt Shrigley and Winston Shepard with 14 points and 12 points respectively with seven others scoring ten points.
The Lobos are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. New Mexico are 41-14-1 ATS in their last 56 vs. Mountain West and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. The Aztecs are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. San Diego State are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
