Redbird Arena will be jumping when their Illinois State Redbirds play host to the Drake Bulldogs.
The Drake Bulldogs are already in danger of losing their season with a 3-11 record where neither end of the floor has put up good numbers which is not a good thing in the Missouri Valley. After a solid but losing effort against Wichita State, the Bulldogs came up empty in a 62-37 defeat at Missouri State on Saturday. Drake trailed by 13 after 20 minutes and never got going with less then 27% shooting not posing much of a threat to the Bears 48% marksmanship. Jacob Enevold Jensen was the only player to crack double figures in scoring with 13 points on 4-8 from the field. Four others contributed between 5-6 points with five others totaling just a single point.
The Illinois State Redbirds are a veteran club that has both scoring and defensive potential which makes them dangerous each time they lace 'em up. Having said that the Redbirds fell to 0-2 in the Missouri Valley following a competitive 70-62 defeat at conference power Wichita State on Sunday. The Shockers had to much firepower with over 52% marksmanship with the Redbirds countering with less then 37%. Leading scorer Daishon Knight tried to carry the offense with a contest best 24 points and six pulls on 10-23 while the tandem of Reggie Lynch and MiKyle McIntosh combined for 17 points and 13 rebounds. The Redbirds ran a seven man rotation ans each scored but not enough to help take the burden off of Knight.
The Bulldogs are 7-22-1 ATS in their last 30 games overall and 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 games following a S.U. loss. Drake are 4-17 ATS in their last 21 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 road games. The Redbirds are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall. Illinois State are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 Wednesday games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. Illinois State is a very good home team and Drake struggles on the road so on potential I lean home team but I'm not sure I can bet this...
