The name of the game for the Eastern Illinois Panthers is hit shots in the half court and hope the defense makes it stand up with 59 points scored and given up not allowing much margin for error. The Tennessee State Tigers flew under the radar in the Ohio Valley the past several years but they were a rugged team that was not an easy opponent. Graduation has robbed this team of much of their talent leaving the Tigers to rebuild and a 3-13 record tells us it's been painful so far. The team is getting outscored 68-58 so the offense needs the most work although neither end of the floor had success in Saturday's 77-62 loss to Southeast Missouri State. The Redhawks opened up a 12 point lead and never looked back as they sank half their looks while the Tigers struggled to less then 38%. The twosome of Jay Harris and Marcus Roper gave Tennessee State 13 points each with Christian Mekowulu tossing in eleven. Xavier Richards chipped in with eight points and six rebounds but TSU needed much more offensive help.
The Panthers are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. Eastern Illinois are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 Wednesday games. The Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Ohio Valley. Tennessee State are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a ATS loss and Tigers are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games. Eastern Illinois is the better team and there is no debate but their slow style tends to produce close games and a cover might be possible if the Tigers hit some shots...
