U.S. Cellular Arena and the Milwaukee Panthers welcome the Green Bay Phoenix to town on Friday.
The Green Bay Phoenix looked like they were headed for an NCAA bid a year ago as the best team in the Horizon before losing in the conference playoffs. At 12-3 the Phoenix are out to prove last year was not a fluke with a top 20 defense allowing 57 points leading the way. The Phoenix have rattled off wins in seven of eight after throttling league rival Wright State 79-55 on Monday. The Raiders offense was held to a mere 31% from the field while GB proved they were not a one trick pony with 47.5% accuracy and a +19 on the backboards. Keifer Sykes was the offensive star with a game high 28 points on 10-17 followed by a 16 point, 15 rebound and nine assist performance from Jordan Fouse. Greg Mays and Daeshon Francis combined for 18 points and 12 boards with the starters recoding all but 14 points.

The Milwaukee Panthers shocked the Horizon by suddenly getting hot in the postseason and winning the conference playoffs to get a bid to the Big Dance. From the way things are going a repeat would be even more shocking with a 5-11 record with opponents outscoring them 72-66. The Panthers have dropped seven of eight and five in a row after an 83-67 defeat at what was a struggling Detroit squad. The Titans took a ten point lead at intermission and expanded the margin behind 51.5% marksmanship and 15 more shots which made Milwaukee's 47% uncompetitive. Matt Tiby had a strong offensive performance with 20 points and nine rebounds with Jevon Lyle and Steve McWhorter netting 12 points apiece. Akeem Springs tossed in eleven points and posted five yanks as the starters scored all but ten points.
The Phoenix are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and Phoenix are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. Green Bay are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 vs. Horizon League and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Panthers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 vs. Horizon League and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Milwaukee are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games following three or more consecutive road games. I just think Green Bay will be out for blood here and make another statement...
