The Northern Iowa Panthers put their #23 ranking on the line when they visit the Knapp Center to face the Drake Bulldogs.
The defense first Northern Iowa Panthers have built an impressive resume' with a 13-2 record to climb to #23 in the nation. The Panthers own the #15 defense that allows just 56 points with both losses coming by a combined nine points. UNI has won consecutive games following a 55-39 rout of visiting Southern Illinois on Wednesday. The Panthers led by seven at the half way point and rode a stiffling defense that limited the Salukis to a mere 29.5% from the field on 13-44 for the game. Northern Iowa countered with 44.7% which was decisive with seven more field goals. Seth Tuttle led all scorers with 24 points and eight rebounds on 9-12 shooting with Nate Buss netting 15 points. Six others totaled 16 points but the Panthers didn't need a lot of offense.

The Drake Bulldogs haven't been much of a factor in the Missouri Valley for quite awhile and judging by their 3-12 record 2014-15 doesn't look to be heading in the right direction. The numbers tell the story with the Bulldogs being outscored 71-60 which makes consistent winning impossible. Drake looks to put an end to a three game skid after falling at Illinois State 81-45 with the Redbirds essentially ending this from a competitive standpoint with a 22 point half time lead. ISU burned the nets at 56.6% with a 9-21 performance on threes while Drake could not compete on 31.8% accuracy. While Illinois State had four double digit scorers the Bulldogs had one in Chris Caird with 15 points on 5-8 with the duo of Trevor Berkely and Reed Timmer combining for 17 points.
