The Portland State Vikings travel to the Sioux Center to battle the North Dakota Fighting Sioux Saturday.
The Portland State Vikings are giving up over 70 points so when they take the floor it generally means they have to put points on the scoreboard or hope their defense comes up bigger. The Vikings are staying afloat at 7-6 but have lost back to back Big Sky match ups after a 90-85 defeat at Northern Colorado as a seven point underdog. Portland State did their damage on nearly 53% marksmanship with 12-19 from beyond the arc but the Bears were just as effective with 51.6% shooting and eleven threes with the added benefit of nine more shots which made the difference. Gary Winston paced the scoring with 19 points and eight helpers befor fouling out in 34 minutes. DaShaun Wiggins also netted 19 points while Tiegbe Bamba and Braxton Tucker added 15 and ten points.

The North Dakota Fighting Sioux need their offense to begin producing on a consistent basis before their season gets out of hand. The Fighting Sioux are being outscored 68-62 so when either end of the floor comes up with a big performance the game has to be won. Having said that the D came up huge Thursday but the offense faltered in a 63-61 loss to visiting Sacramento State. The Hornets did sink half their looks as did ND but Sacramento State hit three more bombs for the slightest advantage in a rather even boxscore. Carson Shanks scored a team high 14 points to lead four double digit scorers with Terrel de Rouen and John Nash tossing in eleven points apiece with Nash hauling in nine rebounds. Quinton Hooker chipped in with ten points but the rest of the team struggled to contribute.
The Vikings are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games following a S.U. loss. Portland State are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Fighting Sioux are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 home games. North Dakota are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games. Not much of a difference between these teams but a slight edge to the home team...
