The Line: Texas State Bobcats -9.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Texas State Bobcats take the floor with the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at Strahan Coliseum Thursday.
The numbers say the South Alabama Jaguars struggle to defend as they are outscored 73-70 which is true but the offense has disappeared in stretches which is why the team is staring at 4-11. The Jaguars fell to 2-3 in the Sun Belt following an 81-73 defeat at the hands of visiting Georgia Southern on Saturday with a 50-39 second half erasing a three point deficit. While USA shot the ball well enough at 48% they gave the ball away 16 times and the nearly 53% shooting Eagles didn't need the help. Ken Williams was the Jaguars go to scorer with a game high 23 points on 7-15 accuracy while the trio of Taishaun Johnson, Barrington Stevens III and Dionte Ferguson scored ten points apiece with Ferguson posting five yanks. Abdul Lewis rounded out the top contributors with nine points and and six boards with the entire seven man rotation scoring.

The defensive minded Texas State Bobcats like to keep things slow and steady to manage the scoreboard and avoid track meets. Mission accomplished as the 9-4 Bobcats are winning the battle on the scoreboard 64-57 to make themselves a threat to break in to the top four of the Sun Belt. The Bobcats saw their chance to fashion a three game winning streak go by the wayside in a 62-59 loss to Louisiana-Monroe in which the Warhawks took a ten point lead in to the intermission before holding off a late rally. The Bobcats 38.5% shooting couldn't overcome ULM's 49% shooting and prevented them from taking advantage of the Warhawks 19 turnovers. Emani Grant led the Bobcats offense with 14 points on 7-14 from the floor with Ethan Montalvo netting 12 points while three players added between 7-8 points.
The Jaguars are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. South Alabama are 7-15-1 ATS in their last 23 vs. Sun Belt and 6-14-2 ATS in their last 22 games following a S.U. loss. The Bobcats are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. Sun Belt and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. loss. Texas State are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 Thursday games and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall. These teams are complete opposites as Texas State defends and South Alabama never heard of defense...
