The Richmond Spiders dropped to 9-8 (2-2 A-10) on the season after losing to the George Washington Colonials 73-70 (2 OT) this past Thursday. Richmond had trouble with fouls in the contest as they had 26 fouls which led to George Washington hitting 24-29 free-throws in the loss. Leading the way for the Spiders was Kendall Anthony who had 20 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Richmond is currently ranked 95th in the RPI Standings and has played the 33rd ranked SOS. On the season, the Spiders have been led by Kendall Anthony (15.8 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 2.1 apg) and Terry Allen (11.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.1 spg). Offensively, Richmond is averaging 62.9 ppg (ranked 282nd) on 46.0% shooting (ranked 66th). The Spiders commit an average of 9.8 turnovers per game (ranked 6th) and have a 1.25 assist/turnover ratio (ranked 52nd). Defensively, Richmond is holding their opponents to an average of 59.8 ppg (ranked 36th) on 42.3% shooting (ranked 170th). The Spiders allow their opponents to shoot 33.9% from beyond the arc (ranked 184th). Richmond is grabbing an average of 21.18 defensive rpg (ranked 317th) and 27.71 total rpg (ranked 342nd).

The Wildcats are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 vs. the Atlantic 10 and 21-6 ATS in their last 27 games overall. The Spiders are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 homes games vs. a team with a winning a road record however, just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games.

I’ve been taking Davidson all year and I feel that their once again in a good spot here at Richmond. Richmond is better than their record indicates and although they have a great defensive, they can be beaten from beyond the arc which is one of Davidson’s specialties. Richmond will try to slow down this game and although I think they’ll keep Davidson’s below their normal offensive output, I don’t think Richmond will be able to keep up with Davidson when this one is over. I think Davidson wins this one by 5-10 points so I’m taking Davidson to cover this small spread.
