Connecticut Huskies vs. Central Florida Knights - 1/22/15 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Central Florida Knights (9-8) at Connecticut Huskies (9-7)

College Basketball: Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 7:00 pm (Gampel Pavilion)

The Line: Connecticut Huskies -16.5 See the Latest Odds

The UConn Huskies will be hosting the UCF Knights on Thursday night at the Gampel Pavilion.

The UConn Huskies are sitting just above .500 this season, owning a record of 9-7.  The Huskies are shooting the ball well from the field, hitting on better than 45 percent of their shots, but still this team is just not putting up the kind of offense needed to make up for their lack of defense and rebounding ability.  The Huskies head into this meeting against the Knights having won three out of their last five, although those two losses in that stretch have been in the last two games for UConn.  The Huskies last loss was on the 17th, on the road against Stanford, in a game where the Huskies were blown out, 72-59.  UConn will be looking to put that behind them here on Sunday when a beatable UCF team comes to town.

Connecticut Huskies vs. Central Florida Knights - 1/22/15 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The UCF Knights head to UConn on Thursday night, to face off against the Huskies.  Like UConn, the Knights are right above the .500 mark this season, as the Knights are 9-8 on the year currently.  UCF has dropped three out of their last five heading into this meeting, with their latest loss coming against the Memphis Tigers, falling to Memphis 99-79.  The Knights can score some points, as UCF is averaging better than 70 points per outing this season, but on the road the Knights have struggled this year, and UCF will have its work cut out for them on Thursday against a solid Huskies team.

I’m going to take the Knights in this spot.  I love the advantage the Huskies have defensively here, but this is a ton of points to be giving up to a conference rival, especially a rival that has such a clear cut advantage when it comes to the three pointer.  When you are laying bigger numbers, the three can kill you, and because of that I just can’t see backing the Huskies here.
