The North Dakota Fighting Sioux take the hardwood at Cowan Spectrum to tangle with the Idaho Vandals.
The North Dakota Fighting Sioux struggle to put points on the board and get stops at the defensive end which has the team scrambling with a 5-11 record. The Fighting Sioux are getting outscored 70-64 and things have not gotten better with four consecutive defeats after an 88-78 overtime to Northern Colorado on Saturday. The boxscore was essentially even except in the shooting department with the Bears sinking almost 51% of their looks while the Fighting Sioux checked in at 43%. Estan Tyler paced four double digit scorers with 21 points on 7-8 shooting followed by Carson Shanks and Quinton Hooker adding 14 points each with Hooker handing out ten assists. Five others combined for 19 points with a mix of explosiveness and balance.
USA TODAY Sports
The Idaho Vandals are one of the more explosive and fast paced offenses in the land at nearly 78 points which is a top 25 unit. The Vandals sometimes need every point that can be mustered because defense is far from a strength with 75 points allowed. That offense wasn't enough in Saturday's 85-73 defeat at Portland State despite a 48% shooting effort. The Vikings connected at 45% with the decisive difference being a 23-10 margin at the charity stripe. Mike Scott was the Vandals offensive star with 15 points, eight boards and ten assists on 6-13 from the field with Sekou Wiggs adding 12 points and six pulls. Bira Seck tossed in another ten points with the twosome of Perrion Callandret and Connor Hill combining for 17 points with ten players scoring overall.
North Dakota are 7-15-1 ATS in their last 23 games following a ATS loss and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 vs. Big Sky while going 2-7 ATS in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. The Vandals are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 8-0 ATS in their last 8 home games. Idaho are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. loss. I don't know if North Dakota has the defense to control Idaho and I don't know if the Vandals defense gets stops either. Too many questions to bet but for a pick...
