The Marshall Thundering Herd will be hosting the UTEP Miners on Saturday afternoon at the Cam Henderson Center.
Marshall has really struggled on the court this season, as the Thundering Herd are just 4-15 overall on the season, and currently the Herd are 13th in Conference USA. So you’re telling me there’s a chance…Marshall is actually solid on the boards, ranking in the top 40 of the nation in rebounds per game, but the Herd has been unable to turn those rebounds into points, which is kind of important. The Thundering Herd has dropped nine straight heading into this home meeting with the Miners.
USA TODAY Sports
The UTEP Miners are playing some solid ball this season, as the Miners are 12-6 overall on the year, and are currently 4th in the Conference. The Miners are shooting really well from the field, hitting on better than 47 percent of their shots, but still the Miners are just mediocre offensively. UTEP is 2-2 in their last four games heading into this meeting with Marshall, and the last loss for the Miners came just a coupled of days ago on the road against the Western Kentucky Hill toppers.
I was tempted to take the Herd here, but I just can’t pull the trigger. The Miners are up against it logistically; this will be their second game in as many days, both of which are on the road. That really takes a toll on these college kids, and having the second game being against a noting to lose conference opponent is tough. I just haven’t seen enough from Marshall this season, to make me put any kind of faith behind them. Too many unknowns here for me to get involved, but if you must, I’d take the Miners.
