The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions play host to SWAC rival the Prairie View A&M Panthers.
The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions looked as if they were going to be a non factor in the SWAC as they kicked off the conference schedule with three straight defeats but have since righted the ship by winning three in a row. The Golden Lions knocked off Mississippi Valley State 72-65 on the road Saturday as they took a seven point first half lead and made it stand up. It was a sloppy contest with both teams combining for 41 turnovers with the Golden Lions holding a 44.6%-40% shooting edge resulting in four more field goals. Montrael Scott led the offense with 18 points and ten rebounds followed by a 14 point, eight board effort from Karim York. Treshawn Hagood added 13 points while Reggis Onwukamuche and Zachery Hamilton netted ten points apiece in a very balanced attack.

The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions seemed to be heading for the bottom of the SWAC standings with four consecutive defeats to open the conference schedule before back to back wins has the team back in the race. The Golden Lions picked up a 66-62 victory over league favorite Texas Southern Saturday by a 66-62 count in a game that was nip and tuck throughout. There was very little difference in the boxscore with the Tigers holding a slight 41%-39% shooting edge with the home team mustering eight more shots and two more baskets. Ghiavonnie Robinson led all scorers with 20 points and five yanks on 7-15 shooting followed by the tandem of Thaddeus Handley Jr. and Trent Whiting with 12 points each with Handley Jr. snagging nine rebounds. Marcel Mosely chipped in with eight points as the offense had some explosiveness and balance.
The Panthers are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. win and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Southwestern Athletic. Prairie View are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Golden Lions are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games. ARPB are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. Southwestern Athletic. Neither team is lined very often but I'm looking at Prairie View and the points in what should be a close one...
