The Akron Zips and the Ball State Cardinals collide at the James A. Rhodes Arena in MAC action.
If the Ball State Cardinals have any hopes of breaking in to the top four they have to start winning now and avoid falling to far back in the standings. The Cardinals opened their conference schedule 2-0 but have since lost four in a row capped off by a 63-52 decision to visiting Kent State who made a nine point lead at the half hold up. The only real difference was shooting with the Cardinals hitting at 42.6% while the Golden Flashes countered with 51% marksmanship which accounted for five more baskets. Sean Sellers paced three double digit scorers with 16 points and six boards on 6-9 from the field followed by a 13 point, five yank effort from Franko House on 6-8. Bo Calhoun rounded out the top producers with 12 pointsand five pulls with eleven points coming from the rest of the team.

The Akron Zips find themselves in a familiar position as they are challenging for the top of the MAC Eastern Division. That's not really surprising since the Zips have scoring ability and can also bring it on defense. The offense saved the day in a 71-69 victory at Western Michigan on Saturday that was close throughout. Both teams sank shots at an identical 43% with Akron hitting a few more threes while the Broncos were thinking they let one get away with a 14-27 effort at the charity stripe. The Zips received 16 points and eight rebounds from Isaiah Johnson with Noah Robotham adding 12 points and six pulls. The twosome of Reggie McAdams and Kwan Cheatham Jr. netted nine points apiece with Cheatham Jr. grabbing six boards while Aaron Jackson chipped in with eight points.
The Cardinals are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a double-digit loss at home. Bakk State are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Zips are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and 25-12-1 ATS in their last 38 Tuesday games. Akron are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win. Both teams have injuries so no line out but I expext the Zips will be large favorites...
