The Missouri State Bears hope to avoid the season sweep at the hands of Illinois State at Redbird Arena.
The Missouri State Bears are slumping and their conference life depends on turning things around right now or dwell in the bottom half of the Missouri Valley. The Bears began MVC play well enough at 2-0 but have since dropped six in a row capped off by a narrow 61-59 loss at Bradley after overcoming a ten point deficit at the half. In a battle of halfcourt attacks the Braves won the shooting battle 46%-42% with MSU posting nine more shots but letting one get away with an 11-20 effort from the stripe in a close game. Leading scorer Austin Ruder led a balanced attack with 15 points while Camyn Boone and Chris Kendrix scored 14 and 13 points with Boone snaring six boards. Loomis Gerring hauled in eleven points but more offense was needed.

The Illinois State Redbirds have an experienced lineup that can both score and defend which has the team in a position to break in to the top four of the Missouri Valley. The Redbirds fell to top 25 Northern Iowa 54-53 Sunday in a game that was tight throughout. The Panthers shot the ball well at 46% but gave the ball away 16 times that kept the 34% shooting Redbirds competitive with an amazing 22 more looks at the basket which still wasn't enough. Bobby Hunter paced three double digit scorers with 13 points and five yanks while twosome of Reggie Lynch and Paris Lee contributed 12 points each. Daishon Knight and DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell combined for 16 points with Akoon-Purcell posting a team high seven boards.
The Bears are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Missouri State are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win. The Redbirds are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall while going 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. Missouri Valley. I don't like laying big numbers with the Redbirds but if they play well they won't have a problem...
