The Mitchell Center and the South Alabama Jaguars shoot for the season sweep of the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns.
The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns have one of more potent offenses in the game at 80 points so I would say their success depends on putting the ball in the basket. They haven't done enough of that lately with defeats in three of four capped off by a 75-64 loss at Georgia State Saturday. This was decided early with the Panthers up 14 at the break and never sweating it out behind 52% shooting. The Ragin' Cajuns never found the scoring tough with just 34% marksmanship to lean on which squandered ten more looks at the basket. Shawn Long tried to carry the team with a game high 21 points and 16 rebounds with Jay Wright tossing in 14. rian Williams added nine points and five yanks but the offense needed a bit more from the secondary scorers.
USA TODAY Sports
The South Alabama Jaguars have a few good performances but their 6-14 record says the bad outweighs the good which is expected when outscored 73-69. The Jaguars are tough to get a handle on and Sunday's 72-55 loss to visiting New Jersey Tech didn't help clear things up. USA actually led by seven after 20 minutes but were waxed 48-24 by the Highlanders in the second half. The Jaguars were done in by less then 30% from the floor which made the 43% shooting of NJIT look scorching hot. Tim Coleman and Damon Lynn were the Jaguars big guns on offense with 20 points apiece with Lynn posting five helpers. Daquan Holiday and Winfield Lewis netted ten points each with Holiday snagging ten rebounds and Lewis grabbing six boards. Rob Ukawuba chipped in with eight points and seven pulls but the rest of the team scored just four points.
The Ragin' Cajuns are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. ULL are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. Sun Belt. The Jaguars are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. USA are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and 7-15-2 ATS in their last 24 games following a S.U. loss. UL Lafayette is the better squad although the Jaguars have had success in this match up so we'll see if that continues...
