The Saint Mary's Gaels look to stay in the West Coast race with a win against the Loyola Marymount Lions.
I think the Loyola Marymount Lions know their season is in jeopardy unless they can somehow get hot in the conference playoffs. A finish in the top four in the West Coast is unlikely because the Lions have issues at both ends of the floor and you have to have scoring punch to compete. The Lions found just enough offense to upset San Francisco on the road by a 70-69 count as a nine point underdog. LMU came back from a 13 point deficit behind 44% shooting and 12 more shots to overcome the Dons 48% accuracy with an 8-2 edge on three pointers being key. Ayodeji Egbeyemi paced three DD scorers with 19 points on 8-15 from the field while Evan Payne and David Humphries scored 13 points apiece. Marin Mornar rounded out the top producers with nine points and eleven rebounds.

The Saint Mary's Gaels are in a familiar spot and that's near the top of the West Coast trying to displace Gonzaga. The Gaels shook off a loss to the Buldogs to Portland 74-64 on the road behind a 44 point second half to erase the Pilots one point lead. Portland was limited to 30 marksmanship which rendered 12 extra looks at the basket useless. SMC countered with 46% from the floor which was decisive. Brad Waldo paced Saint Mary's with a game high 19 points and nine boards on 7-16 with Garrett Jackson right on his heels with an 18 point, eight rebound performance on 8-10 accuracy before fouling out in 27 minutes. Kerry Carter followed with 12 points and another seven pulls while the duo of Emmett Naar and Aaron Bright combined for 17 ponts.
The Lions are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win. Loyola Marymount are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Gaels are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall. Saint Mary's are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 vs. West Coast and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win. Saint Mary's is clearly the better team and could win by 30 but this is too many points for me to get involved...
