The Akron Zips travel to the Stroh Center to battle for the top spot in the MAC with the Bowling Green Falcons.
The Akron Zips have been a top squad in the MAC for quite awhile although they seemed to have taken a half step back the past few years. The Zips appeared to be back to full strength once again behind solid scoring and a defense that gives up less then 62 points. That defense was at it's best in a 59-47 victory over Ball State behind a 35-23 scond half breaking open a tie game. The Cardinals were limited to under 38% shooting which made the Zips 41.8% a winner with five more baskets. Pat Forsythe led all scorers with 17 points and five yanks and was the only Zips player to reach double figures. Deji Ibitayo tossed in nine points while Aaron Jackson and Noah Robotham chipping in with seven points each with Robotham posting five assists.

The Bowling Green Falcons don't have a very big offense so they try to avoid up snd down the floor scorefests and that's where their number 17 defense that allows 58 points comes in handy. The defensive end of the floor put the clamps on Northern Illinois in a 58-46 victory on Thursday with a late run carrying the day. The Huskies were held to a mere 36% accuracy including 2-12 from distance while the Falcons hit at 43% with a 7-18 performance on threes. Richaun Holmes tossed in a contest best 18 points with seven boards on 8-14 marksmanship in 35 minutes. Zack Denney followed with a 13 point, five yank effort while Anthony Henderson scored eleven points and snared six rebounds. Delvin Dickerson chipped in with eight points as the scoring wasn't explosive but didn't need to be.
The Zips are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Akron are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Mid-American. The Falcons are 5-0-2 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game.
