The Texas El Paso Miners look for another win in the CUSA when the the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders come to town.
There was no way the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders would match the success of prior seasons but the reality of the situation they are better then I anticipated. Having said that the Blue Raiders don't meet my expectations which I admit could be unrealistic. Thursday's 69-58 defeat at Texas-San Antonio was a game I thought should have been won and it looked that way with a seven point lead at the half before the Roadrunners dominated the final 20 minutes. MTSU sank shots at less then 35% which negated 22 more looks while UTSA burned the nets at 52% and hit nine more free throws. Darnell Harris and Perrin Buford led the attack with 15 points each with Perrin hauling in nine rebounds. Reggie Upshaw Jr. netted eleven points but scoring was scarce overall.

The Texas El Paso Miners are one of the stronger teams in the CUSA but the conference has plenty of challengers and that means some teams are going to beat up on one another. The Miners barely avoided a three game skid as they squeezed by Alabama-Birmingham by a 71-69 count. Both teams connected in the 46%-47% range with the Blazers staying competitive with 22 additional shot attempts. The decisive edge came at the charity stripe wher UTEP held a 21-4 margin. Vince Hunter poured in a game high 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds on 5-10 from the floor while Earvin Morris went 5-9 from the field for 14 points. CJ Cooper and Jilian Wasburn added eleven and nine points respectively with Cedrick Lang muscling his way to a game high ten rebounds.
The Blue Raiders are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss. MTSU are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a S.U. loss. The iners are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a S.U. win. UTEP are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. Conference USA. I don't always like what I see from MTSU but I think they are playing well enough to cover...
