Conference and instate rivals the Miami Hurricanes and Florida State Seminoles collide on Sunday.
The number 24 Miami Hurricanes are looking to climb the national rankings and move up in the ACC. The Hurricanes missed a chance to move up in the conference after falling to Georgia Tech 70-50 which prevented a three game winning streak. The Yellow Jackets took control with a nine point lead in to the intermission and continued to dominate until the final horn. Nothing went well for the Canes who shot just 34.5% including a 6-26 effort on threes while the Seminoles fired away at almost 57% and owned an 18-6 edge at the stripe. Tonye Jekiri was the lone double figure scorer with 13 points and nine rebounds on 5-6 shooting while Sheldon McClellan, Davon Reed, Manu LeComte and James Palmer netted six points apiece.

Thhe Florida State Seminoles aren't as strong as we have seen in the past but they have proven to be a thorn in the sides of some teams. The Seminoles look like a decent spoiler who have their sights set on one of the NCAA tournaments although the Big Dance is a long shot. Consistency has been an issue with the scoring and defense being up and down as they hope Wednesday's 82-76 overtime victory versus Wake Forest is the start of a long hot streak. FSU sank shots at 46.6% with the Demon Deacons checking in at 34% but totaling 12 more attempts to stay close. Florida State received 21 points, five yanks and five assists from Xavier Rathan-Mayes followed by a 19 point, eight rebound effort from Phil Cofer. Devon Bookert posted 15 points while Montay Brandon and Jarquez Smith contributed ten points each.
The Hurricanes are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Miami are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Seminoles are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 9-19-1 ATS in their last 29 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Florida State are 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS win and 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600. The Seminoles are dangerous but I'm thinking Miami needs this to stay ranked with an eye on the Big Dance...
