The Syracuse Orange hope to get back on the winning track when the Virginia Tech Hokies visit the Carrier dome.
I'm on the fence with this Virginia Tech Hokies squad as I think they have improved a bit although the conference as a whole is really good which still leaves this squad near the bottom of the ACC. This team is still struggling to win with losses in eight of nine after falling at Wake Forest 73-70 on Saturday. This was an even boxscore in most areas with the Demon Deacons 45.5% shooting accounting for a few more baskets versus the 43% marksmanship of the Hokies. Adam Smith paced five double digit scorers with 12 points while Ahmed Hill and Devin Wilson tossing in eleven points each. Christian Beyer, Malik Muller and Justin Bibbs scoring ten points each with a combined 13 rebounds while eight players scored overall.

At 14-7 the Syracuse Orange might be a bubble team when the NCAA sends out the invitations and that means one thing; win as many games as possible and make it difficult for the selection committee to bypass you. The Cuse are going backwards in that regard with back to back defeats after a 93-83 loss at North Carolina on Monday. The Orange had upset on their mind with a five point lead at the break before the Tar Heels went on a 58-43 second half run. The biggest difference was in the shooting department with the UNC leading 55%-43% which neutralized the the 12 more looks from the Orange. Trevor Cooney exploded for a contest best 28 points on 10-26 from the field with Rakeem Christmas adding 22 points and 12 rebounds. Michael Gbinije followed with 16 points and five assists while Tyler Robinson scored 13.
The Hokies are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. Virginia Tech are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Atlantic Coast and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss. The Orange are 19-8 ATS in their last 27 Tuesday games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss. Syracuse are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 2-12-2 ATS in their last 16 vs. Atlantic Coast. The Orange are not covering right now and Virginia Tech is. That doesn't mean I'm thrilled about the Hokies...
