The Walter Pyramid and the Long Beach State 49ers host Big West rival the UC Riverside Highlanders.
At 3-4 in the Big West the UC Riverside Highlanders are still in the mix for a spot in the upper half of the conference if they can score consistently which they haven't done in defeats. The Highlanders did not light up the scoreboard in a 66-62 decision against visiting CSU Northridge on 36.5% shooting but they turned 25 Matadors personals in to a 24-8 edge at the stripe to offset far superior 50% marksmanship from CSN. Taylor Johns carried the offense with a game high 27 points on 7-14 from the floor while Jaylen Bond scored ten points. The twosome of Steven Thornton and and Austin Quick chipped in with nine points while the rest of the team scored eleven points.

The Long Beach State 49ers are in a virtual three way tie for first in the Biig West at an impressive 6-1. The 49ers don't have great overall numbers thanks to an extremely difficult non conference strength of schedule but this team has gotten scoring and or defense when needed during league play. LBSU won number five in a row in a 65-50 rout of Hawaii in which the defense took control with the visitors held to 34.5% accuracy which made their own 42% shooting and 16 more free throws overkill. Travis Hammonds led a balanced attach with 12 points on 3-4 from the floor with David Samuels adding eleven points and a team high nine rebounds. Tyler Lamb and Deontae North each scored ten points with Branford Jones chipping in with seven points.
The Highlanders are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. win. and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 Thursday games. The 49ers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Long Beach State are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 vs. Big West. I don't have a lot of interest in this huge spread so I'll back the points and cross my fingers...
