Centrum Arena and the Southern Utah Thunderbirds play host to the North Dakota Fighting Sioux.
The goal for the North Dakota Fighting Sioux is to improve their position in the Big Sky to face a lesser opponent in the conference postseason. If that is to happen then both ends of the floor have to get on the same page and improve their numbers. The Fighting Sioux took a step in the right direction with an 80-69 victory versus visiting Idaho State Saturday as an eleven point lead at the break held up. The Bengals were limited to less then 36% shooting while ND hit at a burning hot 54% including 7-19 on threes. Estan Tyler tossed in a game high 19 points and grabbed five boards while Jaron Nash scored 14 points and snaggedd another six boards. Terrel de Rouen and Quinton Hooker each netted 15 points with Hooker hauling in nine rebounds and posting ten assists.

Even though the Southern Utah Thunderbirds are just 5-14 that is still an improvement over last season. The Thunderbirds obviously need more scoring and more stopping power defensively although it doesn't seem we'll see much better performances from either end of the floor this year. Both ends of the floor struggled in an 81-60 loss to Northern Arizona for defeat number three in a row. The Lumberjacks jumped to a 27 point lead after 20 minutes behind nearly 57% marksmanship while SUU was able to sink shots at 39% including a 3-17 effort from beyond the arc. The offense did not have a double digit scorer with Sherron Wilson and Tyler Rawson tossing in nine points apiece with Cal Hanks and Kyler Neilson combining for 15 points.
The Fighting Sioux are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. North Dakota are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. The Thunderbirds are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points. SUU are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games following a double-digit loss at home and 5-13 ATS in their last 18 home games. These teams have a combined 12 wins so that should say caution...
