The Louisiana-Moroe Warhawks haven't drawn much attention over the years but this season is an exception with the team in second place at 9-3 in the Sun Belt Not a flashy squad as they ouscore opponents 65-60 with the offense getting in to the act in Thursday's 77-61 win at Arkansas-Little Rock. The Georgia Southern Eagles have come from nowhere to lead the Sun Belt with a 9-2 record but their numbers tell us why this team is good. Their 71 points is a top 100 offense while 59 points given up is number 25 in the nation. The Eagles maintained control of the conference with a 58-54 victory over visiting Georgia State for their 5th consecutive win. GSU trailed 25-19 heading to the locker room before dominating play in the second half to squeeze out the win. The Panthers easily won the shooting battle 41%-28% but the deciding factor came at the charity stripe where the home team held a 19-5 advantage. Kyle Doyle gave the offense 15 points and with Jelani Hewitt turning in a 13 point, nine rebound and five assist performance. Trent Wiedeman added eight points and five yanks while the entire eight man rotation scored.
The Warhawks are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. UL Monroe are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Eagles are 5-0-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and 5-0-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Georgia Southern are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win and 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a S.U. win. The Eagles are an out ot this world 12-1-2 ATS but I believe the Warhawks can stay competitive...
