The Kent State Golden Flashes hope to take a step towards first in the MAC versus the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks.
I know the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks are last in the MAC East but they are a team that you can never overlook and also one you don't want to put a ton of faith in. The Redhawks can be all over the map at both ends of the floor which makes them dangerous in a way although that could be termed as inconsistency. The Redhawks are looking to bounce back from a 69-67 loss to Northern Illinois where both teams shot the ball in the 53% range. Not much separated the two with Miami sinking a few more baskets while the Huskies made enough free throws to win. Geovonie McKnight was the go to scorer with a game high 18 points on 6-8 from the floor while Willie Moore was next in line with ten points. Chris Bryant and Eric Washington combined for 17 points while nine players found the scoring column.

The Kent State Golden Flashes were one of the hottest teams in the entire MAC with six consecutive victories leading to a share of first in the East but back to back defeats and the Golden Flashes are in third with a 6-3 mark. This is a defense first squad but in a 67-66 loss to Western Michigan they proved you still need to score and not enough of that happened on less then 41% shooting. The Broncos sank half their looks but this was close with Kent State's 13-31 performance from long range. Derek Jackson and Devareaux Manley were the offense for the Golden Flashes with 20 and 18 points with a combined 11-20 from distance. Chris Ortiz and Gary Akbar combined for 15 points with Ortiz snagging a team high eight rebounds.
The Red Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss. Miami (Ohio) are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games overall and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. The Golden Flashes are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall. Kent State are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. Mid-American and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win. Miami (Ohio) hangs around more then they win so all I need is for them to hang around and not get blown out...
